The EPFL Alumni Eastern Switzerland chapter invites you to a guided tour of EMPA in Dübendorf on Thursday February 16th, 2017, followed by an aperitif including finger food.
EMPA reports to the ETH Board, as the two Federal Institutes of Technology and three more institutions do (including PSI and WSL that we have already visited).
Following its creation in 1880, EMPA focused during 100 years on its core mission: traditional materials testing. In the 1980s, it developed into an interdisciplinary research center. Its 29 laboratories work in the areas of nanostructured, “smart” materials and surfaces, environmental, energy and sustainable building technologies as well as biotechnology and medical technology.
Time: 16h15 at the desk of EMPA (map); the tour will last approximately 1½ hour.
– EMPA short presentation
– Future mobility demonstrator
Place: EMPA, NEST desk, Überlandstrasse 129, 8600 Dübendorf (a detailed map will follow)
Language: presentation will be made in German
