In this time of health crisis, many EPFL labs and startups are focusing on developing solutions to tackle COVID-19.

EPFL Alumni Geneva chapter is pleased to announce it first digital event and invite you to discover Swoxid, an agile EPFL startup that is developing a strategic product: a reusable antiviral mask. Its innovative filter combines three important functions: a small pore size to filter viruses; gold-silver-copper antiviral particles; sterilization by exposure to UV light, allowing reuse (more than 1000 times).

Endre Horváth, CEO & co-founder of Swoxid, will present his entrepreneur and researcher journey and Swoxid.
Endre Horváth, scientist at inSTI-HEPIA and guest scientist at EPFL, has received his Master’s Degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Szeged (Hungary) in 2005. He has earned his doctorate in Chemistry at the same university in 2009, where he conducted research on nanofiber reinforced polymer composites for medical application. After his PhD, he joined the group of Prof. László Forró at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne as a postdoctoral Research Fellow. His research interests include development of multifunctional nanomaterials with potential applications in the fields of photocatalytic nanomaterial-based solar-thermal water and air purification systems, sensors, next generation photovoltaics, thermoelectric materials, materials for information technology, novel nanocermet formulations for watch and jewelry industry and study the environmental fate of nanoparticles. He co-author of about 70 journal articles and co-inventor of 2 granted and 4 pending patent applications. He is the CEO and co-founder of the pre-launched startup Swoxid. Swoxid sustainable water and air sterilization technology has received the Zeno Karl Schindler Award in 2015 and second prize of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award (2017).
