After Düsseldorf, we will remain in Nordrhein-Westfalien and visit a chemical plant at the supply center of Bayer Wuppertal.
A particularity of this plant is the presence of the suspended railway, called “Schwebebahn”.
Bayer was founded in the region in the region since 1863. The Wuppertal site employs today 3500 persons, from which 1500 are working in the research and development fields of cardiology, oncology and haematology. The plant produces over 1000 tons of pharmaceutical drug substances per year on 20 hectares. Those substances are used in commercial products for a wide range of applications: e.g. cardiovascular diseases, infectious diseases, heart-circulatory problems, infectious diseases by humans and animals, erectile disfunction, diabetes, thrombose and pulmonary hypertension.
After the visit, we will get together for a light dinner. Further information will follow later on.
